May 21, 2010 - Unplugged at the CMR Warehouse
Israeli Oriental Metal sensation ORPHANED LAND are currently touring all over Europe in support of their new masterpiece “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” (OUT NOW!). Last week they stopped by at the European Century Media headquarters in Germany and played a very unconventional and natural unplugged session in company’s warehouse. Sticks and drum set have been replaced by spoons, garbage cans and cereal boxes and with no amplification you can witness ORPHANED LAND as pure and improvised as possible in front of shelves filled with thousands of CD boxes resulting in a very special atmosphere. Some belly dancing was also involved, but that’s a different story...

Kobi (vocals) further describes the meaning behind this ambitious clip:
“With the video clip, we are trying to reflect this inner search of a man and his spirit. The actor, Matti Atlas, was filmed in a room, sitting in a box, writing sacred stuff. This is the exact way they used to sit and write in the old days in Yemen. He is writing… searching. At some point, he starts to freak out; to write on the walls, on his body, getting even possessed in a way. He is alone, confused, searching for answers and meaning, just as we all are.
“Sapari (means ‘tell me’ in Hebrew) is a 17th century poem written by Sa'adia ben Amram, a Jewish poet who lived in Yemen back then. The song is a duet between the poet and his soul. The poet seeks for his soul and asks her where is ‘she’. The soul, described as a dove in the song, answers that she is at the high chamber, heavens, preparing herself to wear the shape of a human body. In a way, this song reflects the inner search that every human is going through. We are getting to know our self more and more each and every day, and our journey here is far from being easy.”

We are not anti religion
We are not a black metal band, not a white metal band
We are about the unification of everything - All Is One”

Jan 05, 2010 - New track online and special release show
Israel’s ORPHANED LAND kick off the New Year with a brand-new track from their upcoming opus “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR”.
Singer Kobi Farhi explains: “Disciples Of The Sacred Oath II is a heavy song, both musically and lyrically and it is one of the most important tracks of the album by its meaning. Indeed, it calls for a laying down of arms, to realize that the warriors are first of all brothers: “Lay down your swords, blood and flesh you share”...”Shall we see the end of war, bloodbrothers?”. It is definitively the most outspoken text we ever wrote on this subject. Furthermore, as this song contains Arabic lyrics, we would like to dedicate it to our Arab fans and we hope that one day we will sing it together in a show in their home countries!”Check out “Disciples Of The Sacred Oath II” at the band’s MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/orphanedmyspace
In addition to that, the band will play a special album launch show in its home country on February 4th, 2010 at the Theatre Club in Tel Aviv, tickets can be obtained HERE.

Dec 21, 2009 - Celebrate the year's longest night with a brand-new track!
“Hello there to all the warriors of light!
For those of you who don't know, each year the longest night of the year happens at Dec. 21st and from this day on the nights get shorter while the days get longer. On a spiritual level this symbolizes the resurrection of the light and the death of darkness (the opposite happens at every June 21st).
Since our new album "The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR" is a concept album about the warrior of light, we decided to share with you another short track titled – “Va'yehi Or” (in Hebrew - let there be light) - please note that our album is 78.22min long and these are just small tastes of the whole journey - "The crimson touch of hope still fights, through the veil truth doth shine - let there be light!".”

Dec 18, 2009 - Post Holiday greetings! New studio webisode & new track online!
“Hello there to all the warriors of light!
Orphaned Land is working very hard these days to promote the new album "The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR". We're doing a lot of interviews and media news and symbolically it is the only time of the year where the 3 Abrahamic religions are celebrating a holiday at the same time.
We are taking a small break here to congratulate our Christian fans for Christmas, our Muslim fans for the beginning of the new Muslim year and our Jewish fans - happy Hanukah! And above all - to the metalheads all around there - the metal scene is a great example to people, leaders and politicians of how to create a global language, how to accept one another despite our differences, and above all and because of that - we are proud to be metalheads! May this synergy and time of unification grow in us to learn and to understand each other better in the Middle East and all over the world.
"Thy name shall be henceforth ORwarriOR"
Peace, Shalom, Salam.”

Dec 03, 2009 - Orphaned Land launch redesigned web profiles; reveal new album's cover artwork; post new videoclip!
On January 25th (February 9th in the US) Israel’s ORPHANED LAND will release their highly anticipated fourth studio opus “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR”. Mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Opeth), who is also responsible for several keyboard parts on the new album, it turns out to be a sophisticated concept album taking ORPHANED LAND’s unique brand of exotic, heavy music to soaring new heights in terms of complexity and catchiness.
Parallel to revealing the album’s cover artwork the band presents you its newly redesigned web profiles created by Pako from renowned RMDdesign Spanish company. Stay tuned to these sites
for further information regarding “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR”.
Kobi Farhi (vocals) comments the artwork by Zen Two & Native as follows:
“Even in the album’s artwork we combined Hebrew and Arabic, regardless of the fight between Jews and Muslims. I found a Jordanian guy, specialized in calligraphic artwork. He took letters from Hebrew and Arabic and moulded them in his art to create a symbol of peace. The whole artwork is mainly hand made as we are tired and a bit sick of too much photoshop works. I truly believe that the work these guys did for us is something really special and we are very lucky to have it. You will soon see that simply every page of the album’s booklet is a masterpiece!”
Furthermore, a brand-new webisode allowing a look behind the scenes of the photo shooting for the band’s striking new promo pictures has been posted on ORPHANED LAND’s official YouTube channel, so head over to www.youtube.com/user/OrphanedLandTV and look forward to loads of new videos leading up to the album’s release.
On the new promo photo and the resulting reactions Kobi Farhi states:
“It's been 2 weeks since we launched our very controversial band photo - most reactions were simply great and I've noticed more than a few discussions on it all over the net. However, I also noticed that some people found it offensive or they just didn't like the idea, I must tell you this - this is the best band photo we ever did, finally our concept and music also was reflected visually. We will never offend any culture and our main thing is to unite people who are different, to let them realize that we are all the same, all one. Please think about the place we come from, then look at the photo again - this is ORPHANED LAND"
All German ORPHANED LAND fans can already look forward to see the band live during the upcoming festival season. So far, the renowned Rock Hard festival in Gelsenkirchen (May 21 – 23, 2010) and Summer Breeze festival in Dinkelsbuhl (August 19 – 21, 2010) have been confirmed! More touring and festival updates will be announced soon…
”The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” is an audible manifest that the time has come for Middle Eastern metal to take over!
Nov 30, 2009 - Steven Wilson comments on mixing the new Orphaned Land album
Steven Wilson comments on mixing the new Orphaned Land album on his site, here is the article: Steven Wilson recently played keyboards and mixed the fourth album by Israeli progressive metal band Orphaned Land. For those who have never heard the band, they are perhaps best described as what Opeth might sound like if they had come from the Middle East instead of Scandinavia. The music has a similar scope and degree of layered sophistication. But the sound of Orphaned Land is very much inspired by their roots, sung in English, Hebrew and Arabic and featuring many traditional Middle Eastern instruments. The album “The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR” is an ambitious and impressive 75 minute conceptual piece combining heavy music and breathtaking beauty”.

Nov 12, 2009 - Release date revealed
On January 25th, 2010 the time of wait is finally over! Israel’s ORPHANED LAND will finally release their highly anticipated fourth studio opus “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” in Europe. Mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Opeth), who is also responsible for several keyboard parts on the new album, “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” turns out to be a sophisticated concept album taking ORPHANED LAND’s unique brand of exotic, heavy music to soaring new heights in terms of complexity and catchiness. It is an audible manifest that the time has come for Middle Eastern metal to take over!
Nov 12, 2009 - Comment on new album concept
Vocalist Kobi Farhi comments on the album’s concept and the striking new promo photo as follows: “As people that were born into the tragedy of our region, we have always been devoted to creating harmony between conflicts, a musical heaven on earth, a tango between God & Satan. Even in the album’s artwork we combined Hebrew and Arabic, regardless of the fight between Jews and Muslims. I found a Jordanian guy, specialized in calligraphic artwork. He took letters from Hebrew and Arabic and moulded them in his art to create a symbol of peace. Same goes for our band photo, where we portrayed a synergy between the three monotheistic religions, that believe in the same God and yet, ridiculously have been killing each other for centuries "in the name of God" and turned the holy land into an orphaned land. Naturally we continued this idea of union on a musical level as well and the result is as always crazy, it's a miracle – in our concerts: our Jewish fans sing in Arabic and our Muslim fans sing in Hebrew, brave friendships have spawned and our Middle Eastern metal music destroys all this political witchcraft we have been trapped in for so long. This is a musical journey of hope in lands of war, creating heaven on earth, building a new Jerusalem.”
Jun 04, 2009 - Studio update!
“Hello to all the orphans, warriors of light out there!
We are still in the studio, working hard to give birth to our new album and the warrior of light – “ORwarriOR”. Drums, percussions, bass, all kinds of guitars, violins, piano and oriental instruments (Buzouki, Saz, Cumbus and more) have already been recorded and right now I am recording my vocals which include narrations, clean singing, Arabic chants and growls. Female vocals are being recorded in the coming days, too. Since I sing in so many different ways, this experience is very tough for me and I have to deal with many kinds of atmospheres, styles and languages (including English, Hebrew and Arabic).
Last week we took a break from the recordings while Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Opeth) came to visit us in Israel and had a first session with us in the studio. Steve listened with us to the whole album and mentioned that this is easily our best work so far!
Steve will do the keyboards and mixing once we have finished recording vocals, which is supposed to happen within the next 2-3 weeks. We are excited to hear the results that will come from Steven's studio and we are sure that together we will be able to deliver a fantastic album for the middle eastern metal scene and one of the most interesting and original albums the worldwide metal scene has ever known!
We are looking forward to sharing this album with you and can't wait to hit the road again to play live for you! We send you our greetings from the studio!
Forever orphaned - Let there be light. / Kobi Farhi”
Mar 12, 2009 - Studio diary online
“Hello there to all the ORphaned warriors of light - we are very happy that we finally entered the studio to deliver you the long awaited concept album – “ORwarriOR”!
The album is going to be more than 70 minutes long and as usual many traditional instruments and languages will be involved in the process. In my opinion this is the best ORPHANED LAND album ever! We can't wait for you to put your hands on it and we look forward to tour and meet you all on the road! Check out our diary from the studio at our Ultimate Metal forum and see you all soon! Your Orphaned brother - Kobi.”

“ORwarriOr” will be mixed by legendary producer Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Opeth) and he comments as follows:
“Finally! I am very happy and look forward to mix ORPHANED LAND's new album, I'm sure this will be one of the greatest and most original albums in the metal scene!”
Jul 29, 2008 - Orphaned Land featured in "Global Metal" documentary
“Hello to all the orphans out there! We are happy to inform you that the writing process of our long awaited album “The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR” is about to end soon, we have more than 90 minutes of written music. We don’t like to repeat ourselves, so do not expect a “Mabool Vol. 2”! Of course, the female vocals and the oriental instruments will be there as always, but “ORwarriOR” is different and I can say for sure that it is more extreme, powerful and less progressive. Still, like all our albums, it is ORPHANED LAND and you'll all notice that. Watch out for the first single, which is the opener of the album called: “Sapari”!
We are also doing the arrangements to finalise the artwork and dates for recordings and production later this year, and we are still looking for the right drummer to fill in for the album.
On another matter, ORPHANED LAND appears in Sam Dunn's new documentary “Global Metal”, along with Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, X-Japan and more, the film is a journey which is exploring the metal scenes in some rather exotic regions of the world, like for example in Dubai, Indonesia, China, Israel etc.
The orphaned sons of the orient will soon come back to rock you!”.
A trailer for “Global Metal” seeing ORPHANED LAND’s Kobi Farhi appear alongside metal legends Tom Araya, Max Cavalera and Lars Ulrich can be viewed now at http://www.globalmetalfilm.com/03/GM_03.html or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiOqGIWlFx8
Besides interview sequences, the movie also includes live footage filmed during an ORPHANED LAND show in Tel Aviv.
